There’s a new game in town. Make that games. Lots of ’em.
Cleveland’s Arcade is filled with more than 40 vintage and retro games plus pool and air hockey.
Add black lights, plush seating and a 1,000-watt sound system and it’s better than the ’80s.
The new arcade is adjacent to Cleveland Cycleworks, the full-service bicycle and board shop on Washington Street. And get this: inside the shop, there’s a skate park! With its own very cool lighting. Bring your skateboard, scooter, roller skates or roller blades and pay by the hour or day–or get season passes.
“I built this business out of the things I love,” Michael Cleveland said. “When I was a kid I would frequent the local skate park and shops and arcades in Milwaukee where I grew up.”
Arcade hours are currently the same as Cycleworks: 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays, and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturdays (though Cleveland plans to soon make the arcade available 24 hours). The machines are coin-operated (there’s a bill changer in the room), but from 4-7 p.m. Fridays, customers get unlimited play for $10.
